Cappagh View Cattery is situated near Dungarvan, Co. Waterford.
It is owned and run by myself, Sonia Power, my husband Eamon, and our young son Conor. I am a qualified veterinary nurse with almost twenty years experience of working hands on in small animal veterinary practice. I have owned cats all my life and as a family we possess a genuine affection for all felines. We are owned by two domestic shorthaired cats, Alfie and Willow, and have more recently welcomed a number of exotic shorthairs to our family. We never cease to be amazed by their intelligence and mischief!
We established Cappagh View in 2007 after realising the need for a high quality cattery in the area. Over the years we have built a solid reputation, with a high occurence of repeat business.
Although leaving your cat at home under the care of friends, neighbours or pet sitters may be the choice of care for some, quite often, cats being cats, do not take too kindly to any disruption in their home life or routine. Unfortunately, we ourselves have experienced this scenario first hand. After leaving Alfie at home under the care of our neighbour, he dissappeared and wasn’t seen or heard of until the moment we arrived home, when he strolled in the front door as though nothing had happened! Our neighbour felt awful, and we were worried sick. Not surprisingly, this is a story i have heard time and time again from our clients – That is why they are our clients!
By leaving your cat in our care you are provided with complete peace of mind that they will be kept safe, secure and happy during your absence.
Our accommodation consists of spacious individual runs with multi level climbing shelves and views over our garden where they can watch the birds and observe the daily hustle and bustle of our daily lives. The runs are weatherproof, with added heating during the colder months.
The bedrooms are in the form of cosy condo’s complete with sleeping shelves and are also fully heated. The recent addition of our large playroom provides a fun, stimulating environment in which to explore. Both mental and physical stimulation are essential in maintaining a healthy mind and body. Each resident will have daily access to the playroom. All accommodation is cleaned and disinfected daily and litter trays are cleaned throughout the day as required.
We offer a wide selection of wet and dry diets and treats, and stock several types of cat litter to satisfy even the fussiest of cats.
Because we only board cats, our cattery is naturally as stress free as possible. There are no barking dogs to upset the residents, and the use of feliway – a natural calming pheromone, and soothing background music ensure stress levels are kept to an absolute minimum at all times.
The service we provide is very personal, and due to a relatively small number of boarders we are able to devote a lot of time and attention to each resident individually. All cats are physically handled on a daily basis, are groomed as required and are closely monitored throughout their stay for any potential problems. With cats, warning signs can be so subtle that they are not always apparent, so this is an area where i find my veterinary background a distinct advantage. Any potential problems are addressed promptly. We have 24hour access to our own vet, or we would be happy to consult your own vet should the need arise. In addition, we are competent at administering all forms of medication as required. Again, all cats with existing medical conditions or those recieving medication are closely monitored throughout their stay.
We can provide long and short term respite care for cats recovering from operations or those with debilitating conditions that are, for whatever reason, unable to be cared for properly at home. Alternatively, should you yourself, find yourself hospitalised or unable to care for your cat adequately at home we would be happy to discuss your needs with you.
Up to date flu and entiritis vaccinations are essential and proof must be provided in the form of a current vaccination card signed by your vet.
Any cat showing signs of infectious disease (i.e flu symptoms) will be refused admittance to the cattery.
In addition to our boarding service, we also offer daycare. This proves to be beneficial to cats whom for whatever reason have to spend long periods of time by themselves and miss out on human contact. Daycare also provides a good oppertunity to familiarise your cat with our cattery prior to a longer stay.
We are qualified to microchip your pet and offer a microchipping service for a very reasonable fee.
Cappagh View are happy to provide a collection and return service to and from Dungarvan and surrounding areas.
